Wellington Weekend part 1

The biggest sporting party in New Zealand has sadly been and gone but what a fantastic time was had.

My first time at the famous Wellington Sevens exceeded all my expectations and i can honestly say i havent had such an amazing weekend for the longest time.

We spent the entire time staying at my best friend Antonia's house as she recently relocated from Christchurch to Wellington and it certainly was nice having our entire group staying at the same place. Felt a bit like summer camp with people everywhere and the early morning starts followed by endless amounts of laughter.

On Thursday Thomas and I made our way into town to meet up with Antz's boyfriend James, his friends and my mum who were all in town to watch the Sevens welcoming parade through the Wellington CBD.

From the minute we made our way into the city, there was the most unbelieveable buzz around the place. The stunning weather for the entire week most certainly helped but it was almost indescribable. We spent the afternoon doing a mini pub crawl soaking all the atmosphere up and sampling some wonderful hearty meals.

As you can see from these pictures its honestly the biggest costume party you can imagine and every single person i met during the event was honestly having just as good a time as me.

It is something i would recommend to anyone who enjoys not just rugby or rugby sevens but just a great sporting spectacle.

As an avid sporting fan i loved seing our NZ boys play live. We have always had a strong and proud history in the game of sevens but even though our boys couldn't win the title i still had a fantastic time.

I havent come down since. In fact work this week was quite depressing at times. Planning and brainstorming costumes for next year

I will bring you part 2 of my fantastic trip in my next post.

Enjoy the end of your weekend. Not enjoying the fact that the nights are slowly getting darker earlier.. Wish summer was all year round.

A trip to Akaroa

A couple of weekends ago we randomly decided to go for a day trip to the small seaside village of Akaroa. I hadnt been there since i was a little girl and neither had Thomas so it was the perfect opportunity to go and explore some of the beauty of Banks peninsula.

It is just over an hour's drive from central Christchurch and it certainly feels like a whole world away. It has a very strong French influence from the early settlers as long ago as 1838.

It certainly has an abundance of charm and quaint places to explore, i just wish we had more time and we will certainly be back for an overnight stay at least some time later in the year.

I still love the feeling of being a tourist in my own country. There are so many corners and fantastic places i have yet to explore and i love ticking places off my very long travelling list.

Had a very eventful weekend in Timaru for the wedding which seems like it was such a long time coming so it was a bit of a shock getting back into work today. Weekends really do never seem long enough.

Enjoy the start to your week
